Product Info & Care
Gold-Filled Jewellery
Gold-filled jewellery is composed of a solid layer of gold, pressure-bonded to a base metal, making it a great alternative to solid gold in terms of affordability and durability.
It is very high quality, tarnish-resistant and with proper care, will last many years.
Due to having 100x more gold than gold-plated pieces, gold-filled items are more expensive. However, as they will not chip, flake off or change colour over time (unlike gold-plating), gold-filled jewellery are a much more affordable, valuable and long-lasting investment.
Gold-Filled Jewellery Care
Gold-filled jewellery is resistant to tarnish and water, so everyday wear (even in the shower) is safe for your piece, but we recommend some things to maintain its longevity:
It is best to minimise exposure to sweat, chlorine & salt eg. ocean water (repeated exposure to salt over a long period of time can erode the gold)
Keep away from harsh chemicals found in household cleaning agents, cosmetics, hair sprays, sunscreens & lotions
To keep your gold-filled jewellery lovingly shiny, we recommend you regularly give your piece/s a gentle wipe with the polish pad provided.
Sterling Silver Jewellery Care
It is important to note that sterling silver is a precious metal & naturally tarnishes over time.
However, tarnish from sterling silver can also be removed either by giving your piece/s a polish with the polish pad provided or using a cleaning solution for a more thorough cleaning method.
To maintain the longevity of your sterling silver jewellery, avoid or at best minimise exposure to sulphur, sunlight, humidity, sweat, chlorine, and harsh chemicals found in household cleaning agents, cosmetics, hair sprays, sunscreens & lotions.
These elements are primary causes of tarnish and corrosion of sterling silver.
It is recommended you remove your sterling silver jewellery before doing any of the below activities:
During outdoor activity - eg. swimming in a pool/beach and performing outdoor tasks
During any form of exercise
When applying or removing cosmetics
During household cleaning
When storing your jewellery, it is crucial to keep it dry. You can do this by placing it in an airtight container or using the micro-fibre pouch provided.
